Hampton Roads Landscaping FAQ

Common questions about commercial bids, residential projects, and working with PLVA.

Commercial Services

What is your bid process for commercial projects?

We respond to all bid requests within 48 hours. After reviewing plans and specifications, we provide detailed line-item proposals. For larger projects, we schedule a site visit to ensure accurate pricing. We work with general contractors on competitive bid, negotiated, and design-build projects.

Are you bonded and insured?

Yes. PLVA is a Virginia Class A contractor with full bonding capacity and comprehensive liability insurance. We can provide certificates of insurance and bonding documentation upon request for any project scope.

Do you handle CO inspection landscaping?

Yes, we specialize in certificate of occupancy landscaping. We understand the timeline pressures of CO deadlines and prioritize punch-list items to keep your project on schedule. We coordinate closely with general contractors to meet inspection requirements.

What areas do you service?

We serve the entire Hampton Roads region including Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Suffolk, Newport News, Hampton, and surrounding areas. For larger commercial projects, we service locations throughout southeastern Virginia.

Residential Services

How do I get started with a residential project?

Contact us to schedule a consultation. We'll visit your property, discuss your vision and budget, and provide recommendations. For design projects, we create detailed plans before installation. For simpler projects like sod or seed, we can often provide same-week estimates.

Do you offer maintenance services for residential properties?

Our maintenance services are primarily focused on commercial properties and HOAs. For residential maintenance, we recommend establishing a relationship with a local lawn care provider. However, we do offer seasonal services like mulching, pruning, and irrigation winterization for properties we've installed.

What is the best time of year for landscaping projects?

In Hampton Roads, spring (March-May) and fall (September-November) are ideal for most planting. Grading and hardscape can be done year-round. Sod can be installed spring through fall, while seeding is best in early fall. We'll advise on optimal timing during your consultation.

Products & Services

Where do you source plant material?

We source quality plant material from a network of trusted regional growers, including our own nursery operation in Pungo. This network gives us access to premium trees and shrubs at competitive prices, with plants acclimated to Tidewater conditions.

What drainage solutions do you offer?

We design and install comprehensive drainage systems including French drains, catch basins, channel drains, dry wells, and grading solutions. We assess each property's unique drainage challenges and engineer solutions that protect structures and landscapes.

Do you install and service irrigation systems?

Yes, we provide complete irrigation services including design, installation, maintenance, and repair. We install smart controllers and efficient sprinkler heads to conserve water while keeping landscapes healthy. We also offer seasonal startup and winterization services.
